The seminar covered the sources, health impacts and safe handling of hazardous waste, and the role of individuals and institutions in managing it.
RAJSHAHI — Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology (RUET) organised a Seminar on Hazardous Waste — “Awareness, Management and a Sustainable Future” on 27 May 2025 (Tuesday) at 10:00 AM in the Central Auditorium, RUET.
The seminar was structured around four themes: Awareness, Safety, Management and Sustainability. Sessions covered the types and sources of hazardous waste, its health and environmental impacts, safe handling, storage and transportation practices, and treatment and disposal regulations.
The session also addressed the role of individuals and institutions in building a safer future, under the banner message “Safe Management Today for a Sustainable Tomorrow.”
The seminar is a building block for RUET’s plans to formalise hazardous-waste handling, including a documented Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for hazardous and toxic waste on campus, building on its partnership with Rajshahi City Corporation.
The event supports SDG 12, SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) and SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) through contamination prevention.
SDG Alignment: SDG 12 (primary); SDG 3; SDG 6.
