A training session with the Department of Civil Engineering focused on sorting solid waste into the right bins at the point of disposal.
RAJSHAHI — Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology (RUET) organised a Training Session on Smart Waste Management and the Importance of Segregation of Solid Waste into Different Waste Bins, in cooperation with the Department of Civil Engineering.
Held in approximately July 2026, the session was open to all RUET faculty members and university authorities.
It focused on practical approaches to source segregation — separating waste into the correct categories at the moment it is thrown away — and on smart waste-handling practices for the campus.
Segregation at source is what makes recycling and composting work: when waste streams are kept apart from the start, more material can be recovered and less ends up in the dumping ground. Training the people who lead departments and offices helps carry that practice across the university.
The session supports SDG 12 through source-segregation practice and SDG 4 (Quality Education) through faculty and staff training.
SDG Alignment: SDG 12 (primary); SDG 4.
