RAJSHAHI — Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology (RUET) is contributing to knowledge on responsible consumption and production through a set of verifiable curriculum and applied-research outputs.

On campus plastic collection, the RUET and Khulna University research team published “Advancing Sustainability: Introducing Reverse Vending Machines to University Campuses.” On national recycling capacity, RUET-affiliated researchers examined “Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) Recycling in Bangladesh: Current Status and Future Sustainability Prospects.”

In the built environment, the Department of Building Engineering & Construction Management studied “The Importance of Sustainable Construction Materials and the Challenges Facing Their Widespread Adoption from the Consumers’ Point of View.”

SDG 12 is also embedded in teaching. The Department of Civil Engineering’s Solid Waste Management course covers the sources of solid waste and its management, while the Department of Urban & Regional Planning’s Sustainable Urban Agri-Food System course integrates sustainable food systems into the curriculum.

This work contributes primarily to SDG 4 (Quality Education), alongside SDG 9 and SDG 12.
